HAPPY WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY!!

HAPPY WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY!!

Another 365 days have passed and we celebrate #Worldenviromentalday again. The question should be what more can we do? In a perfect world everybody should be asking themselves this. But oh well, this year the theme is #OnlyOneEarth focusing on Living Sustainably in Harmony with nature. The “Only One Earth” slogan was the one at the very first world conference on the Environment in 1972 at the Stockholm Conference! This is still the main message 50 years on, this truth still holds – this planet is our only home.

If that doesn’t scare you, we don’t know what we will because the message is still relevant 50 years on. That alone should tell you something, we dare say we have evolved as a human race. But have we. Sustainable living is still on the agenda and hasn’t been fully implemented. Yet now more than ever it needs to be. Think of the surge of natural disasters that have been happening all over the world! If you really think about it, all roads lead to Global Warming!

The surge of natural disasters like floods, drought, heatwaves and the emergence of some animals or plants close to extinction etc and let’s not even talk about the damage on the oceans. These are all tell tell signs that we maybe depriving future generations of natural resources, which the human race needs for survival. We should be all be embracing sustainable solutions in all aspects of our lives.  We can all do this by stopping the use of plastics, finding creating ways of reusing things and conserving water amongst many other solutions.

Gone should be the days where we just expect governments, scientists and environmentalist to do all the work for you. It’s high time we did implemented sustainable living from the comfort of our own homes. Everybody has a part to play, even you that is reading this. Here is a video of how you can achieve waste management at home https://youtu.be/GQ3RP1l8EHo

If you wondering how this affects you remember this…

“Climate crisis has exacerbated extreme weather events that kill or displace thousands, while resulting in trillions of dollars in economic losses.

This means even all policies should have sustainable solutions, because like it or not, we need Mother Earth for survival. We need a world where policy makers care more about the environmental aspects of any given project over the monetary viability.

The best way to make this happen is to spread awareness and make people realise just how dire and precocious our positions. That’s why we have days like this day b to remind us and to make us aware so we can make the changes necessary for a better tomorrow.

“With nature in emergency mode, the #OnlyOneEarth campaign for World Environment Day 2022, wants you to celebrate the planet through collective environmental action. Only One Earth advocates for transformative environmental change on a global scale. The campaign shines a spotlight on climate action, nature action and pollution action while encouraging everyone, everywhere to live sustainably,”

If you want to know why you should “Go Green” we have a link to share. https://thegreenpromise.org/2020/03/03/going-green-why-should-we-read/

Let’s join the World and UNEP in commemorating this special day. Let’s all lend a helping hand in preserving #MotherEarth. Begin your sustainable living by not wasting water and not throwing things away Because there is no place called  Away, it goes somewhere and usually it ends up in the oceans! Oceans are an integral part of the lifecycle so they need to be saved!
